Speed and Safety in Modern Railway Operation
An August 1960 advert from the Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company, the images showing the parts their brakes and signals were playing in the Modernisation Plan. First is a Blue Pullman train fitted with the Westinghouse two-stage electro-pneumatic high speed brake. Second is the signal control centre at St Pancras station, the Westinghouse O.C.S. installation controlled 205 routes with electro-pneumatic operation of 61 pairs of points.
