Western Region choose Laycock-Knorr brake equipment
A photograph of D800 "Sir Brian Robertson" features as the main illustration in this May 1959 advert from Laycock Engineering Limited, a company that was part of the Birfield Group / Birfield Industries Limited. Their Laycock-Knorr brake equipment (developed by German company Knorr-Bremse) was used in these 2000hp locos and the second engine shows the brake controls on the driver's desk.
