Smiths on 'Active' Service
An image of the first North British "Warship" locomotive - D600 "Active" is shown in this January 1960 advert hauling a train out of London Paddington station. The diagram gives details of 16 different components supplied by Smiths Industrial for the diesel-hydraulic locomotives. These included many of the cab gauges, speedometer equipment and cab heating and demisting units.
