A Metropolitan Cammell DMU is illustrated passing the prototype English Electric Deltic locomotive in this May 1960 advert, one of many which would be even more wonderful if it were in colour. It is unclear whether the Deltic had Hardy Spicer cardan shafts, the text concentrating on the diesel railcars and the cardan shaft shown was used on railcars between the speed and reversing gearboxes. As noted, Hardy Spicer Limited was part of the Railway Division of Birfield Industries Limited - Laycock was another railway supplier that was part of this group.
This advert appears in the following categories: Traction: Class 101 ; Supplier: Hardy Spicer ; Component: Cardan Shafts
