Power of the Lion
An Associated Electrical Industries Limited advert featuring the 2750hp prototype LION locomotive (number D0280) which was a joint production between themselves, BRC&W and Sulzer. AEI supplied much of the heavy electrical equipment including the Type 253 traction motors, traction and heating generators, auxiliary machines and electrical control gear. The October 1962 ad also has an image showing the traction motors fitted in the bogie.
