Mirrlees Power for British Railways
The quantity of Mirrlees JVST12 power units supplied - or due to be supplied - to Brush Electrical Engineering (Traction Division) is now 226. The main illustration shows completed Type II loco D5536. The October 1960 advert also has an inset showing the 1,365hp power unit fitted with an a Brush generator. Despite the proclamation of "a tribute to the reliability and performance in service of Mirrlees Diesel power for rail traction" they would later be re-engined with English Electric power units.
