Gresham's "Quick Release" Chosen for New Diesel Railcars
One of the Derby Lightweights built for the West Riding features in this late 1954 advert from Gresham & Craven Limited. Their "Quick Release" vacuum brake equipment was chosen for these vehicles and continued to be used in all other first generation DMMUs, it comprised a twin pipe system to give it the quick release. The illustrations of parts show some of the components that made up the braking system: combined deadman's equipment; feed valve; and driver's brake valve.
