Another advert that uses a play on the name of diesel-hydraulic Warship D600. Duralumin was trade mark name for high-strength aluminium alloy sections produced by James Booth & Company. The Birmingham firm also supplied MG2 alloy plate sections for the construction of the North British 2,000hp AIA-AIA locomotives for the Western Region. The first image in the December 1958 shows the completed loco, the second during construction. The use of these alloys for the bodyshell allowed a reduction in weight compared with steel, the loco having a service weight of 117 1/2 tons.
