Another Important Diesel-Electric Contract for AEI
An April 1962 advert from Associated Electrical Industries Limited in which they note they had won a contract to supply the electrical equipment for a further 57 Type 2 diesel-electric locomotives, on top of the 176 it had already supplied. The main image features a traction motor which the text suggests is one of the reasons they won the contract as the lightweight design had an increased power/weight ration and lower cost. The locomotive illustrated is a D5155 which would later become 25 005 and was new to Thornaby in June 1961.
