AEI 3000 volt Locomotives for South Africa
During the modernisation era British rolling stock manufacturers built many vehicles for export. This November 1960 advert from Associated Electrical Industries shows two of the 135 3000 volt 2800hp 84 ton DC electric locomotives it built for South African Railways, part of an order of 345 locos and 350 sets of motor coach equipment for the Reef and Cape Western electrifications.
