The first Hymek locomotive (later known as a Class 35) D7000 is pictured in this January 1963 advert from Bristol Siddeley Engines Limited. The text covers a lot of facts and figures: locos fitted with Bristol Siddeley high speed diesel engines had covered over 6,000,000 miles; over 300 of these are on order for British Railways; and those already in service were averaging over 14,000 miles a month. Their engine range equally suitable for hydraulic or electric transmissions averaged 9lb/hp and was available in 4 or 6-cylinder in-line or 8, 12 or 16-cylinder V engines from 384 to 1,920hp. The Hymeks had a 16V 1,700hp Maybach MD870 engine which Bristol-Siddeley built under license.
