100 Diesel Railcars for British Railways Modernisation Plan
A December 1956 advert from Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage & Wagon noted that they had now supplied 100 of these vehicles to British Railways with orders now totalling 411 vehicles. They would produce many more similar ads marking milestones up to the delivery of 760 vehicles. The images shows one of the four-car sets supplied to the North Eastern Region for Newcastle-Carlisle services.
